New Appointment!

I am elated to share that I have been appointed member of the Standing Committee on Accessible Transportation and Mobility (AME50) with Transportation Research Board (TRB)! For those who may not know what the TRB is, it is one of the program units of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.

My involvement began in 2018 – I joined as the a friend of the subcommittee. Most of my presentations at the TRB’s annual meeting were under it; I have done lectern as well as poster presentations. I attended the subcommittee meetings every year.

The idea for one of my studies, a review of transportation-related courses to investigate whether disability accessibility was taught in U.S. planning schools, came from a committee-meeting discussion during my second attendance.

One of the many things I love about this subcommittee is the wonderful people in it. They are very passionate about accessibility of transportation, hard working, and collegial. It is the highlight of my TRB experience to see familiar faces and catch up with friends and members of the subcommittee alike every single year.

I am looking forward to contributing to the continued success of AME50!
